Quantity Surveyor
The Role
To be responsible for the Day to Day Commercial activities in the business reporting to the
Commercial Manager / Senior QS.
Key Tasks
Submit Monthly Applications for Payment to Clients to agreed timescales within Subcontracts.
Ensure Payment is made within agreed terms including chasing Clients Accounts depts during the
Monthly payment cycle.
Monitor and control income and cost for projects.
Forecast Monthly expenditure to Clients
Take appropriate corrective action in response to actual or potential variations from budget in line
with organisational requirements.
Management of Change on Projects.
Ensure correct contractual notices / early Warnings / request for variations are submitted in a timely
manner in accordance with Subcontract terms.
Price Variations / Compensation Events.
Final Account preparation and submission.
Subcontractor management – applications, certificates and preparation of payments for approval by
Commercial Manager / Senior QS.
Encourage team members to identify training needs via processes and develop individual personal
development plans on an annual basis (If Applicable).
Liaise with QS staff in order to support and co-ordinate development activities for the team
members. (If Applicable).
Supervise Staff , allocate work within the QS team ensuring that you make best use of the team’s
resources and abilities. (If Applicable).
Ensure that all aspects of work are carried out with sound commercial awareness and resources
utilised effectively.
Collate and analyse monthly project information and Cost value reconciliations.
Produce and submit clear and concise reports to the Commercial Manager / Senior QS, etc as and
when required
Attend and contribute ideas/information in a range of meetings i.e. client, Subcontractor, internal
improvement team etc ensuring that contributions are clear, concise and accurate.
Conduct regular site visits and attend meetings as necessary.
Ensure that the work environment under your control is as conducive to healthy, safe and
productive working as possible within organisational constraints.
The Candidate
Quantity Surveyor
• 4 to 5 years minimum experience as Civil Engineering QS. Degree Qualified.
• A good problem solver, with good business acumen, and sound commercial awareness.
NEC Contract experience.
• Change Management experience.
• Commercial Lead in meetings.
• Ability to deliver work to the highest standards.
• Accept responsibility and be self-motivated.
• Be methodical and accurate.
Good IT Skills (Word and excel).
• Good spoken, written and communication skills.
• Relevant CSCS Card.
• Driver and holder of a clean driving license.
• Be able to work as part of a team.
