PRINCIPAL ENGINEER (MECHANICAL & SYSTEMS ENGINEERING):

 Job Description

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provides specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice.
  • Responsible for mechanical engineering and design including design criteria, material selection and equipment sizing in compliance with codes and standards.
  • Capable of leading a team of engineers / specialists / designers.
  • Understands clients’ needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Ensures project and HS&E compliance and adherence to project budget & schedule.
  • Independently evaluates, organises and prioritises work for yourself and the team.
  • Undertakes responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to Project Management, procurement, technical partners, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various other 3rd-party submissions.
  • Signs and issues technical documentation as originator or checker, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Ensures all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
  • Trains / mentors more junior engineers / team members.
  • Manage a team of engineers on a project or within a discipline.

 PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

  • MSc / MEng (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Mechanical engineering, or subsea/marine engineering.
  • Experience from the marine/offshore/oil & gas industry is desirable but not required.
  • Relevant software experience (Autodesk, ANSYS, Orcaflex).
  • Experiences with design according to Lloyds, DNV is preferred.

 PERSONAL SKILLS 

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Creative problem solving – able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working – developing a new subsea industry with UIDs and leading the paradigm shift!
  • Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc.
  • The ability to work in a team as well as individually with a minimum of supervision.
  • The ability to organize and prioritize own work and as such have responsibility for discrete work packages ongoing simultaneously.
  • Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions.
