Engineering Manager

Role Overview

To support onshore and offshore project operations, providing technical support in the completion of all technical deliverables in respect of subsea intervention and inspection activities.

Provide technical direction for the development, design, and delivery of systems, methodologies and procedures to ensure safe and successful completion of company’s projects.

Demonstrate and apply significant knowledge of industry practices, trends and developments to improve service to their clients.

To work closely with the Commercial Department in support of tenders and client meetings.

Manage engineering support capabilities and information to provide effective engineering support across the company.

Principal Tasks

·        To oversee technically all engineering and related projects, services and function, providing day to day technical expertise in support of equipment / operational issues and ensuring full compliance with all relevant engineering standards and operational procedures.

·        Manage the successful completion of engineering and design programmes including modification of existing designs, improvements to operating techniques and design of new products / systems.

·        To participate in the tendering and proposals function to ensure that the broadest knowledge base is used to comprehensively assess and meet Customer requirements and market constraints.

·        Review scopes of work for inspection and intervention project opportunities, provide technical direction and lead problem solving activities to identify cost effective solutions.

·        to provide technical assistance through process, review, staffing support for projects, directly participating in projects as needed during execution challenges.

·        Develop, establish and communicate policies and procedures for the technical function, execute and recommend system improvements, practices, procedures and equipment (as appropriate), ensuring feedback of lessons learnt and the incorporation of appropriate improvements into Company systems to support continued advancement and development.

·        To assist in the development / improvement of technical and business processes.

·        Manage change process including engineering change and process improvements and engender a culture of continuous improvement.

·        To work co-operatively and productively with others to reflect departmental and organisation priorities, ensuring maximum use of project resources, technical integrity, operational efficiency, quality assurance, safe and successful completion of projects.

·        Build and maintain positive relationships, with internal functions and external customers.

·        Compile and review technical documentation, reports, calculations, specifications, test and operational procedures in respect of modified or new equipment.

·        Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function, arbitrate staffing issues and consistently uphold and maintain standards of acceptable conduct and work performance, undertake employee appraisals and initiate/facilitate ongoing training and development.

Supplementary Tasks

·        To work in accordance with defined Company QHS&E Management Systems and be aware of H&S responsibilities to you and to others.

Role Skills, Knowledge and Experience

·          BEng Hons/MEng Degree qualified or equivalent.

·          Experience in engineering leadership/management.

·          In depth knowledge of the design, make, prove interface role and design for manufacture and test.

·          A good understanding of project management and supply chain principles.

·          Good commercial and financial understanding.

·          Analytical and problem solving skills.

·          Attention to detail.

·          Experience of Subsea AUV vehicles and systems.

·          Experience of Subsea operations, engineering support and manufacture.

·          Incorporated/Chartered Engineer.

·          Design and drafting experience.
